巴西民眾周三上街抗議，爭取到里約熱內盧當局取消捷運票漲價之後，周四更多人，估計有30萬人，走上街頭，抗議政府為主辦2014年世界杯足球賽花太多錢。同時，全國數十個城市都有數萬人上街抗議，要求政府提高公共服務品質，增加教育與衛生支出，以及削減公務員薪水。巴西20年來最大的這波抗議潮，已逼使總統狄爾瑪‧羅瑟夫取消本月稍後的日本之行。
