吸菸顯老 雙胞胎實驗證實

美國凱斯西儲大學團隊，發表於臨床醫學期刊《整型及重建手術》的研究指出，吸菸確實與老化程度有關，而且從外表就看得出來。研究人員為排除人種、環境、遺傳等可能影響老化程度的因素，特別從俄亥俄州雙胞胎大遊行現場，拍攝79對平均年齡48歲的中年雙胞胎近照，比對兩人臉部皺紋、眼袋、下眼皮暗沉等外表老化徵兆，與吸菸「年資」之間的關係。

研究人員發現，吸菸年資相差5年以上，臉部老化的程度就會有所不同。與同孿兄弟或姊妹相比，長期吸菸者除了有較深的眼袋，在臉孔下半部的皮膚，包括嘴唇周圍、下巴、人中等部位，都有較多細紋，膚色也較暗沉；有趣的是，上半臉容易產生皺紋的部位，包括前額及眼角的「魚尾紋」，抽菸與否就沒有太大差異。

研究人員推測，上半臉的皺紋主要由臉部肌肉老化、鬆弛造成，長期吸菸可能對「烏煙瘴氣」所及的口唇周圍皮膚，產生較明顯的影響。
