立法委員何欣純中午在台中市大里區的草湖國小禮堂替一對新人證婚，當她正帶著新人逐桌敬酒時，地震來了，連禮堂裡的玻璃都發生被扭曲的怪聲，現場80桌賓客有約3分之1跑了出去，她卻得強自鎮定地留下來陪新人，「當時心裡真的害怕死了！」

何欣純說，因為這次地震搖得久又頓了一下，讓她真的害怕到了，後來地震停了，她幫忙安撫客人，但心裡還擔心著天花板上一個搖晃的電燈是否會掉下來。她心想，無論對她或是新人而言，都會是一次難忘的經驗。
