一、研究背景
武俠電影在臺灣，為一種多元化的文化資產，值得探勘與整理出一套系統。有鑑於此，本論文從「大眾文化」的觀點切入，以具有通俗性與普遍性的臺灣1950－－1980年代「武俠電影」與其發展歷程，作為研究主題；然觀賞電影與文本的閱讀，在感受上仍有差異，因此亦爬梳武俠小說在電影中所表達的思想蘊意，讓武俠電影不再僅囿限於視覺的享受，而是有機會成為學習歷史與文化的教材。另外，亦佐以學者的研究，與武俠電影導演的訪談，了解導演拍攝的理念，藉此更為深入電影的核心。
二、研究問題
（一）論述1950－－1980年代臺灣武俠電影，一方面回顧其歷程和經典，另一方面亦探討武俠電影傳播的優劣。
（二）剖析社會背景，如何影響臺灣武俠電影的發展。
